The Laundered Soul©
POETRY AND ART BY CAROLINE STREET

Alienated from who you are?
What is it you seek?
A need to stand out,
To be famous with lots of clout?
Craving for money, power, attention, more?
What are your hidden agendas for?
What "I want" and "I am"
Is your fountain of upset and anguish.

Grab your ego by the scruff of its neck,
Toss it out; it will make you a wreck.
Pride, unforgiveness, hostility,
Selfishness, roleplaying and regret;
Emotional baggage - a stone around the neck!
Our Lord wisely said, "deny thyself";
By this, the ego must be laid to rest.

The past is that and no more,
A withered, ineffective dream, a bore;
To be blown and scattered to the wind
Is all that it is good for.
The future does not exist -
How can it?
Live in the now, the moment, the present.

In retrospect the hardest lessons
Of life are disguised blessings.
Cease complaining, hurting,
Gossiping and blaming.
Don't fuel the drama,
End the dramatic sagas;
If necessary, study spiritual warfare.
Show others you care;
Compassion and love must bloom,
It is the answer to the gloom.
Cultivate your spiritual flower,
Feel the love in every fibre!

Recognise your and others
True essential nature;
Respect all life forms,
From the leaf on the tree to the aged.
Christ is the light of life,
He is all-knowing, all-seeing.
Allow your unique spirit
To wallow in love, joy, and peace,
Sustained by daily prayer,
And thankfulness for daily grace.

The laundered soul has no stain
Or use for selfish gain;
It's a reconditioned, surrendered state,
On a journey to everlasting life? Yes!
After all, you are a human B-E-I-N-G!
No more ''poor little me'' or ''my, my, my'' -
The caterpillar has become a butterfly! ❤
