A 'PAY WHAT YOU WANT' SPECIAL ON ART.
ART BY CAROLINE STREET

'Sweet Caroline Leaves'. YES! You Pay What You Want for this piece of art!
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
Some might view this offer as weird or suspicious, but their thoughts could not be further from the truth. I have no ulterior motives. I could call this giving back, but this would be incorrect in the material sense, as I do not suffer from a need to give back as far as my conscience goes, except of course to God Himself. So I am giving back in a spiritual sense. I am blessed with talent, and would like to sell my art to someone who will really enjoy it and can afford what they can to pay for it. In fact this is just the first offer and there will be more like it.
INSPIRATION FOR THIS ART
I am a keen gardener and do have a lovely garden! A lot of my art features flora from my garden, as I love to recreate it on canvas. I was inspired to paint this plant, firstly, because I love the shape of the leaves, and furthermore it is called Sweet Caroline (Ipomoea batatas), and Caroline is my name! It is a lovely little creeping plant which produces a violet flower, similar to that of its cousin, the morning glory. The actual colors of the leaves are rust, green and purple, but I chose for my palette, green, purple, yellow and pink as these colors contrast better.
The painting is busy, yet peaceful; just like a plant grows; peaceful to look at but behind the scenes there is a lot going on! Nature is so inspiring and generous in all it offers, never asking a thing in return! This painting will brighten your space and bring a smile to your face!
THE WORK
The design of the painting was not easy, as you can see it is quite intricate, and I had to steadily maintain the balance of placing the leaves, colour and space, while keeping a good line around the leaves. The painting took me about 15 hours to create. I have been painting for forty years and will not let a challenge get me down, even if it is a fight to the last stroke!
MATERIALS
The art is done on good quality stretched canvas. I used my favorite oils, Windsor & Newton, Artists Oil Colour, as well as some Daler Rowney (Estd.1783). I have been using these paints for years as their durability and colors are great!!
GENERAL PRICES
The general price of my art ranges from $100 to $600. The last painting I sold, which was oil on canvas, sold for $165.
CHARITY
30% of the proceeds of my work, i.e. art, prints and sales from my book, Take a Walk with Me, goes to various charities.
