LILY WHITE.©
A poem by Caroline Street
Elegant lilies of white
Upon slender, fleshy, stalks,
Amidst tall, lush leaves
Thrive in the shadows of the trees.
A few spathes slowly unfurl,
Whilst those in full flower
Flare out towards the light.
Their heads gently sway in the breeze,
Like white sails on a calm sea.
Surely, an uplifting sight
Are the lilies of white,
Whilst they proffer daily greetings
And sprinkles of inspiration,
From the busy sidewalks.
