FEED THE BIRDS.©
A poem by Caroline Street.

Early morning risers,
Some wet to the bone,
Snatching sleep
Huddling on cold stone.

Not much rest after a night of rain,
Shelter is scarce.
Trees drenched,
Big rain drops,
Those that make the feathers flop!

Ahhh! A ray of sunshine,
Breaking through the cold, purple dawn.
Those still wet -
Frigid with cold,
Gather slowly on the lawn.

A welcome sprinkle of food
Is eyed and snatched by the shrewd -
Bellies to full,
Feathers to warm,
This is sure to make them happily
Greet the morn!

New tricks to learn,
And life skills to earn;
As is always said,
"The early bird catches the worm!"❤
